Mission

Our mission is to share Buddhist teachings and provide opportunities for meditation
practice as a spiritual path, with the intention to ease suffering and its causes. We host
weekly practice at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation building in Traverse City,
Michigan and meditation retreats in the Grand Traverse region of Northern Michigan.

With the support of the Three Jewels of Buddhism —the Buddha, the example of
awakened being; the Dharma, the Buddhist teachings; and the Sangha, the community
that practices together— we develop our practice with our hearts and minds through our everyday lives. We have faith in the potential of all beings to realize the innate wisdom and compassion that is our basic nature.

We emphasize the practice forms of the Soto Zen tradition, including zazen (seated meditation) and the teachings of Dogen Zenji. All are welcome.
